26 on the 26th

Photobucket

Yesterday was my amazingly handsome husband's birthday. I like to stretch birthdays out for as long as possible, so it is perfect that I am just getting around to blogging about it today (birthday's not over, Kev, until it is blogged about). In fact, we started celebrating the night before his birthday at Kev's favorite Nashville restaurant, PM.

I think they look a lot alike in that pic. (People always tell me that Merit has my eyes, but look--I think she has his eyes! And smile. Oh, and pretty brown hair. And winning personality.)

Since Kevan and I have been dating, I have always wrapped his presents for any occasion in brown kraft paper and then I decorate the packages with sharpie. This year, Merit helped decorate her present for him. I couldn't break tradition and give her a measly crayon, so I was brave and let her use an actual sharpie.

Here's the birthday boy and his presents yesterday morning.

That afternoon, like any good wife/future room mother would do, I made "K" cookies and took them up to his work.

He was able to get off work early, and I caught some good pics of him and Merit enjoying his day.

I hung out with him on his birthday, too. Promise.

We love you, Kevan. I hope your birthday was indeed happy. I know I had fun celebrating you. Five years ago, you asked me to marry you on your birthday. I'm forever grateful that 21-year-old Kevan made that choice, and I am humbled and honored that your choice was me!

You have such a young studly husband. I wish I was 26! What a sweet daddy and husband he is. And are those little curls forming on Merit's head? So cute. Happy B-Day Kevan!

What a fun tradition! I think Merit looks like a great combo of you both. Avelyn is starting to look a little more like me, thank goodness. If one more person said "Oh my gosh, she looks EXACTLY LIKE YOUR HUSBAND" I would scream. :) Happy birthday to YOUR Kevan.

what a wonderful celebration! i let my kindergarteners use sharpies for outlining and other people would panic over it. i love that merit is already practicing!
