slip on by lyric video

Recently Kevan was given the opportunity at work to make a lyric video for one of their new artists, Finding Favour. I was given the honor of helping him out a little with it. The song is a story about a conversation one of the band members had with his grandfather once, and his grandfather gave him the good advice of not letting life "slip on by". We came up with the idea of flipping through a scrapbook of the grandfather's life, and we were able to use old pictures of Kevan's Grandma and Grandpa to bring the idea to life. They have some of the neatest memories captured on film, and I was so glad that we were able to make Grandpa the star of the video. He is (and was!) pretty cute, and Grandma - my goodness, so lovely. The momentos, postcards, etc. used were some of Grandma and Grandpa's, some from antique stores, and a few were found in my favorite abandoned farmhouse expedition. It took some long hours to get the book put together, then for Kevan to work his magic making the video, but it was worth it.

behind the scenes...

(Kev worked so hard getting the page turning just right, trying different locations for different light, and then editing the final cut. SO extremely proud of and impressed by him.)

And here is the fruit of his labor, starring Wayne and Lina Gale Albright.
Video by Kevan Albright. Awesome song by Finding Favour.

Speaking of Wayne and Lina Gale, they have both recently been hospitalized. Their rooms are on different floors of the hospital, and they have each been so worried about the other. But I am happy to report that Grandma was able to go visit Grandpa today.
Here they are on a date to the carnival, late 1940's maybe?

And here they are today, still holding hands. My goodness, what an inspiration.

If you would, say a prayer for these two to start feeling better soon!

remember that time i had a blog?

Oh, man. This poor blog. My mom reminded me today that I haven't done much with it lately! It actually made me laugh out loud when I saw that the title on my last post was "Christmas: Part One". I'm sure I had great intentions to post a part two or three, or you know, move on from Christmas. The past couple of months have been super busy in Redbudland, so most of my computer time is spent in Photoshop. I hate that I can't keep up with this blog. It's all we've got as far as family scrapbooks or albums go. Sigh. I do put pictures almost everyday on my Instagram. My username is redbuddesigns, if you want to follow along there.

Anyway, I will move past part one of Christmas at some point, but for now I'll let some new pics and video sit here for a while. The pictures are a couple of my recent faves of the girls (from my phone).

Merit Fey and Shy Violet!

sweet, happy August Rose

This video is from February, but I love it. I am still learning how to use the video feature on my camera, so I was practicing with Merit that day. I asked her to sing a song for me.

I shall title this video "I Made It Up". If you make it to the end, you'll see why.

Christmas: part 1 - our house

We had Christmas a few days early at our house since we would be out of town on the actual day.

Christmas Eve, attempts at getting a pj pic - too much love and too blurry :)

i love this picture

After August went to bed, we baked cookies for Santa.

Then, after Merit went to bed, we spent entirely too long doing this:

Christmas morning

such a fun morning!

photo a day - days 9-23

day 9: daily routine - four little mermaids in the tub

day 10: childhood - my family in Colorado circa 1983

day 11: where I sleep - my side of the bed

day 12: (I wish we were) close-up - We saw the Civil Wars at the Ryman, and they invited Taylor Swift on stage to sing their new song for the Hunger Games soundtrack.

day 13: in my bag - nothing anyone older than 3 would be interested in!

day 15: happiness - I took Merit to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. We were both in heaven.

day 16: morning - my fave mug and fave pj's

day 18: something I bought - I found this little vintage piggy bank at a junk/antique store in its original packaging.

day 19: sweet - Merit napping on our bed

day 20: someone I love - more than he knows

day 21: reflection - the sunset in my rear view mirror

day 23: something old - My friend Penny and I spent a few hours exploring this old abandoned farmhouse a little over a week ago. On this past Sunday, Penny drove by and discovered that it had since been demolished. So very sad that it couldn't be saved, but I'm so glad we got a chance to "get to know it" before they tore it down.
